The mob ties and other corruption allegations against Mayor D'Alesandro curiously have remained absent in the accounts by Speaker Pelosi about her political family."

"In 1953, Franklin D. Roosevelt D’Alesandro (Nancy's brother) and 13 other youths went on trial in Baltimore for “moral charges” involving two young girls, aged 11 and 14. D’Alesandro, who was 20 at the time and was charged with statutory rape, testified that he had never seen the victims before. Although he was eventually acquitted of the rape charges (he was the only defendant to be acquitted during the trials), he was later charged with perjury."
