That's how it works, but then that would mean the cold dead hands types are selfish and can't think forward to when they have children or if they want a gun of their own that they don't currently have.
At that point does that person accept that what he has is what he will ever have or what?
Idk I also saw a lot of big talk on patriots.win right before January 6 with people posting pics of their pieces from the hotel rooms and stuff (hotels outside of DC because whoopsie the laws in DC don't allow that so they complied already) and then once the j6 thing happened, everyone went home, some people even got beat by antifa on the way back and nothing happened.
I'm more inclined to believe that there are far fewer "cold dead hands" types than people who claim that they are.
The Bundy family? Those walked the walk. Most others will claim to be that way on the internet, much like if you tell a story about something someone did to you or whatever. The person you're telling it to will say, "bro if that was me, I'd fucking kill the dude." Prople make claims as to what they'd wish to do, not what they'd actually do.
Idk if I'm making sense, I know I'm a bit all over the place with my thoughts here.
But when it comes to reality, are you going to COLD DEAD HANDS when you have a wife and kids you will lose?
This ties in with the slow boil. Are you going to COLD DEAD HANDS over a bumpstock ban? No.
What if they limit from 30 round mags to 15? Are you going to go COLD DEAD HANDS over that? No because you still have your pieces and that's a big hill to die on while you are still free to own arms.
But when they drop 15 rounds to 10 like they did in jersey, will you COLD DEAD HANDS then? Over 5 rounds? You won't.
If they took away rights in 1 swoop, yeah. But by chipping away, no individual instant is worth leaving your child fatherless.
I also agree with you. To be honest, all they have to do is continue with the slow boil.
They can make it impossible to obtain a new gun under any circumstances and those types will do nothing because they already have their guns.
In another generation of that slow boil hypothetical, guns would be removed from circulation over time just by these two aspects alone.

There's two main reasons why they always grandfather in stuff:
Enforcement is impossible
People are less likely to rage if it doesn't affect them
