Property taxes are used by local governments to pay salaries of police officers and firefighters as well as provide services such as roads and parks. Texas has no state income tax, a reality recently preserved in the state constitution, so partly as a result of that, Texans deal with some of the highest property tax bills in the country.
Collier argues that by closing a tax loophole for large property owners, Texas can provide real tax relief to everyday Texans while providing increased funding for education.
What a liar. He knows damn well it is the local governments causing the misery. He's going to lie and try to blame republicans.
However, their strategy ran into a speed bump when normally sleeping local elections tossed out a whole bunch of their leftists minions.
Right after the May 7th local elections they scramble for a new narrative and strategy.

This is one of the main problems I see with Texas. Over the years, they have allowed the government to expand, due to ever-increasing influence of bat shit crazy libtards.
Rather than keeping the government small, like the original "Republic of Texas" concept, they have allowed it to expand to a point of being burdensome on the people. Because they want to keep their income tax at zero (which is a great thing), they have paid for this government expansion by increasing property tax.
The increases have got to the point that some old-timer Texans can no longer afford to pay the property tax on their own home.
An income tax can often be reduced at the individual level, but property taxes are much more burdensome to deal with.
If the government does not reduce in size, this problem will only get worse -- until poeple screetch enough that they demand a solution, which will come in the form of bat shit crazy libtards pushing for an income tax.
At that point, they will have BOTH an income tax AND high property taxes. All because they did not push to reduce the size of government.
It is becoming more and more clear that one of the biggest problems we have is that the individuals who run the RNC are corrupt and working against the People.
For anyone interested, the "Precinct Strategy" could be a solution:
October is the season when the property tax hikes will come again. Right before midterms.
