It's always amazed me how many people speak of the "end times" or the "rapture" and forget about the Bible's reference to the "days of Noah"... the faithful remain, while the unfaithful were destroyed, and the earth itself was not destroyed. Yet so many seem to think that the earth will be destroyed and humanity's only hope is going to "space" to start over on a new planet. Sci-fi books and movies have pushed this narrative seemingly forever. Think about most of the recent apocalyptic movies over the past 20 years.
Consider this... what if those crafts were actually to be used to shuttle the world's shitheads away so the rest of us can be saved here?
I just don't take "[outer]space" exploration or the notion of "space colonization" seriously because I don't believe that the "earth" as we know it is ever going to be destroyed. Doesn't matter if it's NASA or SpaceEx. Both are money laundering machines and colonizing "Mars" (or anywhere else in "space") is just a song and dance. The whole "earth is doomed" shtick is old and tired, been used for millennia to control minds through fear.
Of course, I'm a Truman Show guy sooooo... what's beyond that barrier certainly interests me, and part of me thinks that Elon knows but has to maintain accepted jargon/narrative.
Doubt much will be revealed during my lifetime, but if anything does, then that's a bonus
