I saw a documentary where they showed how gold leaf is made by repeatedly hammering gold inside leather sheets, and refolding, and re-pounding, to where a single layer is so thin that it can be used to ice cakes and be eaten. It is an incredible metal. Maybe I should buy some :)
Yeah the liquor called goldschläger has little foil shavings floating in it.
Gold is amazing to hold and own, I bought all of mine through the r/pmsforsale from established sellers because they sell for better rates than retailers but it's far more risky.
If you want good value coins, go for old foreign currency like the French 20 franc roosters. American official coins have the highest premiums but are very easy to sell with a premium when you want to sell.
Personally, I live wearing my gold so most of my gold is in jewlery which I bought at bullion prices (not from a retailer).
Idk if you saw my link elsewhere in the thread but this is a nifty comparison of some of my chains from 10k to 24k

Most of my chains are 14k, but I paid for the gold content in them and have been able to flip chains for big profits on Facebook marketplace by offering cheaper than retail but still a hefty profit.
Usually I don't have much of a selection as I buy from 1 or 2 guys who post whatever they acquired, but I have gotten some great pieces.
If you want I can link you my guy's profile on reddit so you can keep N An eye out for when he posts some stuff.
I've purchased something like 5 bracelets and 20 chains from the guy over the last couple of years and have tested al of them (you can get an acid testing kit for like 15 to 20 bucks online and it'll come with a lot.
