Hey frens! Was wondering if we have any members of COS or at least any petition signers.
I know while we are waiting on the plan to take things over, we can still be proactive and put some skin in the game. We all complain, but for many of us, what are we doing beyond complaining?
If you are unfamiliar, take a couple minutes and check this out. https://conventionofstates.com/
Here’s a brief snippet:
WHAT’S A CONVENTION OF STATES ANYWAY?
Article V of the U.S. Constitution gives states the power to call a Convention of States to propose amendments. It takes 34 states to call the convention and 38 to ratify any amendments that are proposed. Our convention would only allow the states to discuss amendments that, “limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, and place term limits on federal officials.”
I've known about a COS and Article V for a long time, but I have seen little real effort to make it happen. The chatter has been going on for several years now. I recall that Mark Levin was an advocate for it, and even wrote a book about his suggested actions, "The Liberty Amendments."
If the stated purpose ("Our convention would only allow the states to discuss amendments that, “limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, and place term limits on federal officials,” then We The People might support a COS. But knowing the Left as we all do, how long would it be before [THEY] got their greasy fingers on it and turn the COS into an absolute shit show? That's about all they are good for.
If anything, it helps grow grass roots movements and that will expedite the red pilling. I went to a COS event in my verrrry blue state of Maryland. People are getting very motivated to create change.
If it never succeeded, at the very least it informed thousands or even millions of their rights as citizens.
But to each their own. Some people don’t want to get involved and that’s ok. But they don’t have much of a right to complain if they don’t do anything besides complain.
Everyday citizens like us are who built this country, fought for it, defended it, and damnit we will take it back too. I’m not going to sit around and wait for someone else to save me, I’m going to fight.
I think we're all doing what we can, in our own ways This war will be won on many fronts....there is no single, absolute issue around which all Patriots will coalesce. Some parents will fight school boards, or TAKE OVER school boards through elections. Some people will fight big media, some big pharma, etc.
And it has to be that way, because the Progs did not erect one single monolithic atrocity, [THEY] erected many atrocities....from Planned Parenthood to local governments to propaganda media outlets.... the list goes on.
There is no single enemy. It's like we are fighting Nazis, Etruscans, the Ottoman Empire, alien invaders, demons, and more at the same time.
One thing I know is we are experiencing totalitarianism. This has been a long drawn out plan by “them” and now they are accelerating at a very fast pace. They had to plant their seeds and allow the roots to grow and take hold - and now that they have control (or so they think), things will be happening quickly.
I personally don’t know anyone around me who is doing anything besides complaining. I’ve been dropping red pills for years now and trying to wake up my fellow Americans and it’s not having the effect I would like to see. People just complain. Imagine if people just complained that the British were coming. We wouldn’t have a country. Farmers, miners, young men, blue collar America - they picked up their muskets and went to war for their country, knowing they were completely outgunned and outnumbered. But nonetheless, they took a stand because they knew God would lead them to victory.
So I do have to disagree with your statement that we’re all doing what we can. I think we can do A LOT more because we are Americans and we have a fighting spirit unlike any other citizen of any other country. We fought for what we have and we have to fight to keep it. I’m not saying we all get our guns and fight, but we damn sure need to use every legal avenue (like COS) to fight back.
Not disagreeing with you at all.
Things need to get much worse before people will take risks. Just be patient; things will get much worse.
Oh I know it. That’s what I’m telling everyone else.
I'm in MD too. I've been frustrated with the people I know (mostly conservatives) just throwing up their hands and saying our state is lost. I refuse to believe it and will look into when the next one of these events is occurring.
That is great to hear! Check out the website and review their materials - if you feel compelled, sign the petition. I am new to it, but I’m finally putting my money where my mouth is. I’ve been trying to figure out how I can get more involved, and this is one small step!
I just started looking it over. I have to believe there are more of us than we realize.
There certainly are! I just met several new likeminded folks at a community party today. Brandon sure is waking people up!!
This is my biggest concern about adding amendments, if it gets into the wrong hands, we're in even bigger trouble than we have now.
It always was in the wrong hands. Any Art. 5 Convention marks the end of the US Constitution. US never had one since the ratification, because of G. Washington, J. Madison and A. Hamilton: • J. Madison in Federalist No.49 (Feb.2,1788) said, a convention is neither proper nor effective to restrain government when it encroaches."The passions therefore, not the reason of the public, would sit in judgment." • J. Madison said in his letter to Turberville (Nov. 2nd, 1788), he “trembled” at the prospect of a second convention. If there was an Article 5 Convention, then “the most violent partisans” and “individuals of insidious views” would strive to be delegates and would have “a dangerous opportunity of sapping the very foundations of the fabric of our Country". • A. Hamilton in Federalist No. 85 (May 28th, 1788) [last para] said, he “dreads” the consequences of another convention because the enemies of the Constitution want to get rid of it. • G. Washington warned Richard Peters in his letter (Sep. 7th, 1788) [last para], about the danger he saw threatening the peace and prosperity that was only recently restored to the people of America. He perceived a second convention of states as an existential threat to the Republic.
Bonus 1.: COS caught preparing an attack on the 2nd Amendment [*]
Bonus 2. (my own find): National Registry equating Article 5 Convention with a Con-Con [**]. It means that the Convention cannot ever be restricted to the issues enumerated in the application, regardless if it's COS, BBA, Wolf-Pac etc. Whole Constitution would be open to changes, opposite to what the COS claims.
Some additional sources: lecture by Joanna Martin (retired JAG attorney) [1] and her notes [2], Justice Scalia on the Article 5 Convention [3], COS myths vs. reality [4], Phyllis Schlafly [5]
Same way I feel about military control or some form of it. When military takes control they don't like to give it back
Totally agree! But we have three defined amendments. They are outlined on the website. When politicians sign on to sponsor this, they are signing on to the defined amendments and NOTHING more.
Doesn't Soros want a COS?
Not the kind we want. It’s in the constitution. Give the website a browse and vet it for yourself.
Also, Rush Limbaugh wanted a COS.
A BIG NO-FUCKING-THANK-YOU!!!!
Right now the shit they are pulling is unconstitutional. Imagine if they were able to get it IN the constitution. Then what?!
Too many rinos, commies and sellouts.
Everyone is entitled their opinion.
But hey, do you have any skin in the game right now? Do you know your rights AND duties as a citizen in this country? We have a duty, being American citizens, and many don’t even know or understand. It’s why we’re in the position we’re in.
I challenge you to actually go to the website and read through the literature. If you can find a fault in it, reach out to me and we can discuss it.
Sounds ineffective at this time. Nothing you said, or directed me to read, has changed my mind.
Hey, fight back however you need to. Just don’t sit on your ass!
How do we go about doing this? Who can we reach out to to make this happen? At least get the groundwork going...
Depending on what state you live in, they may already have districts assembled. Sign the petition and check the box to volunteer! They will call and let you know how you can contribute. Don’t worry, they won’t ask for money. It will start with education and then asking for your time. You can also sign the petition and not volunteer, but we need to educate and mobilize folks all over this country. Time to put skin in the game.
Maybe you need to first authorize states, before a federal convention can be held. 99 bankruptcy-end is still in play. ...
Next Time the REsident Bedexit says: THe COnstitution is not absolute: think of this: ABSOLUTE
What does he mean exactly? Because the Constitution is an enumeration of powers for the federal government to be obeyed. That includes a certain depend able Resident.
