If you are incapable of protecting your property then of course it is going to be taken. This is just the way of the world, sheets of paper are meaningless in the face of the actual reality of having a gun pointed and shot at you. Even the most goody goody person behaves that way because they believe it will benefit them somehow, ultimately we are going to care about ourselves first. For some reason a large amount of people have been bamboozled into thinking that those in government are looking out for others rather than themselves like everybody else does.
It is impossible for humans to act in any way other than in their own self interest. Even when they act in ways that seem counter to their self interest, when you dig into it, you find a compelling self-interest reason behind the behavior.
Even when we give to charity, for example, it is in our own self interest; we get a great feeling from doing it and knowing we're doing good and helping someone.
Yeah but you're feeling good because you helped. It's a moral reward for a kind act. Some people give because they themselves had nothing at one point, so they're giving because they empathize with an individual.
Yup, and for so many people this leaves a bad taste in their mouth so they go on being fake and pretending like they are just selflessly doing good for others. Being honest with ourselves and others seems to be a major hang up in our society, we just can't seem to do it.
