Yeah, I watched a video one time(might have been Glenn Beck on Fox long ago) where they showed news paper articles from that time explaining the 16th amendment and hyping the fact that the income tax would only be 1/2% for some and so forth with a max of 1%. Even back then the media was helping the money changers fool us. Don't worry it will never be more than 1-2%.
But that is my whole point. If it is just going to be 1% then why not write a cap into the amendment. 10% is insanely high if 1% is their supposed goal. Truth is the goal all along was to raise it and keep raising it until people pushed back. Look at what congress argues about 99% of the time. Lowering or raising taxes. Its a false argument. The real argument should be taxes existence or not.
I'm offended that its even constitutionally legal to raise taxes to 100%. It doesn't matter that no one would tolerate it. It shouldn't even be possible. Congress shouldn't even have the power. Just like they don't have the power to take our guns/speech.
The fact they now ignore those limitations is an argument for another day.
Glenn Beck on Fox, the good old days.
What boils my butt is that they think they are entitled to any percentage. Certain functions have to be performed as out lined by the constitution, and those responsibility need to be financed, no more, no less...
I didn't take the government to raise like a insatiable teenager that has no comprehension of fiscal responsibility, the infinity ATM card with no limits.
There are economist who study just how much they can rob from the economy without seriously stunning it's stability, both on the left and the right.
The Laffer Curve is a good example of neoconservative thinking.
What both sides overlook, ignore and hide, the resources they steal and waste are resources the economy needs for organic growth and stability that benefits the people.
Reminds me of a bee keeper.
The bees work hard collecting nectar to make enough honey to reach a point in hive population to promote a split ie. swarm, to start a second colony ensuring bee survival.
The bee keeper keeps robbing not "excess honey" but honey needed for hive stability and growth. Keeping the bees in a constant state of gathering the necessary resources to a objective they will never reach. A life wasted in the servitude of hidden agendas.
And to add insult to injury if that's possible, the rich greatly superior honey is replaced with cheap gmo sugar water to provide "starvation rations".
Robed Reamed and Raped.
Our government ....
Sorry it took so long to respond, but your post was one i had to chew on for a while.
My Brother.
Hopefully in the next few years we will start to see some of this shit change. If not it might be time to move to the moon/mars. :)
