95 is not that hot for Kansas. Anything below 103 is just really warm. You get real good in August knowing exactly if it is 108 or 105, or 111.
I used to run X-Country practice when it was 109 with heat index of 118. Needed a minimum of 10 days practice in heat before the schools would let you race in a meet. Ran by a lot of cattle during those days.
I would run before the season started. I always wanted the hottest part of that day, since that is when the races were.
I do remember for actual school practice we did 2x sessions per day. Run in the morning 95 to 100ish. Run in the pool in the afternoon when it was warmer.

Lol, our district makes us cancel practice it's above 105 heat index. Soft asses

Ya we do ours at 6 am and 7pm now so they aren't canceled for heat.
