fyi, my gold 1oz coins are marked £100 and have been for some time.
so have mine.
This is not "gold standard" nor "silver standard". This is an order to the Royal Mint to produce .999 fine bullion coins, like American Silver Eagles ($22 worth of silver, costs $22 + premium to purchase, and has a face value of $1).
The "2 pound silver coin" is .999 silver, and weighs 31.21 gram, or just slightly over 1 troy ounce.
1 troy ounce is around US$22, or £17.84.
They are not going to issue a £2 coin with an intrinsic metal value of £17.84.
Edit: perhaps this indicates the agreed, global price of silver and gold? The current pricing of PMs are set against fiat currencies. When they vaporise, a new PM based currency will be a re-evaluation. The document states that these coins can be used as legal tender. I'm just speculating but I don't think these are simply commemorative issues.
published 6 6 6 nice!!!!

Ha, so... I wonder how long these will last in circulation before they all end up in piggy banks... lol
Could these be the first new coins without Liz's head on them?

What's with the ROME thing?
Thank you! Honestly I have no idea what the ROME thing is about.

Edit: However these coins are to be used, they are diametric to an all digital electronic currency, an indication that the WEF have been rejected.
Bullshit, this is a segment.(do some research before you post). (5) The design of the said gold coin shall be as follows: ‘For the obverse impression Our effigy with the inscription “· ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 50 PENCE ·” and the date of the year, and for the reverse either: (a) a depiction of Harry Potter with the inscription “HARRY POTTER 25 YEARS OF MAGIC”; or (b) a depiction of the Hogwarts Express and the figure of Harry Potter with the inscription “HOGWARTS EXPRESS 25 YEARS OF MAGIC”; or (c) a depiction of Albus Dumbledore and the inscription “ALBUS DUMBLEDORE 25 YEARS OF MAGIC”; or (d) a depiction of Hogwarts School and the inscription “HOGWARTS 25 YEARS OF MAGIC”. I humbly apologise, oh pompous Bobb, I have corrected my comment to now say all Gold coins....will have an image of Rome. Your own in-depth research is very much appreciated.
Even though you only ever log in to this forum once a month since joining last year, looks like a "drive-by troll, sleeper glowie" operation.
Value is not correct 500 pound is 156,3 grammes,1000 pound is 1005 grammes(2 times 156,3 is 312,6 grammes).Difference 692,4 grammes (for free?).

The document originates from the UK government, they are very well known for making mistakes.
