This isn't by accident, or by "global warming". I don't know enough about Lake Mead and the area, other than I toured the Hoover Dam and had a sister that used to live in Bullhead City so she would go to Lake Mead a lot. However, even with people using the water downstream, this seems severe. Not only from 2001 to present, but from 2 weeks ago to present! Something is not right there. Are more water rights sold upstream taking water from it? Is more water being taken from downstream and it's not being replaced? What is going on?

Lake Powell (upstream from Lake Mead) is even worse off. They just decided to release less water to preserve Lake Powell.
