I think most people just want to "fit in" so damn much they would do anything to do so. I have never been one that worries about fitting in, and making sure to pass that on to my kids.
Knowing: "Those who follow the crowd are likely to get no further from it, but those who forge their own paths are likely to find themselves in places the crowd has never been."
Quest for knowledge and making informed decisions. From what I've observed, most people seem to accept anything told to them by people on the TV. Personally I seek out as many sources as possible before I formulate my own opinion. I don't give a crap if I come to a different conclusion than the masses.
I know I'm not the most intelligent person there is and nor do I think I need to be in order to come to a logical decision. I'm more intelligent than most of the blind sheep, thats for sure. I've also learned that most of the people that think they are intellectually superior are by and large idiots. A degree doesn't automatically prove intelligence. Often times I think it just proves indoctrination though not all degreed people gave in to the indoctrination.
I never fit in so it's never been an issue. Mom and dad moved me around schools because I was "gifted" always trying to find the best learning environment. 6 schools between K-6th grade. I just got used to shit changing and fitting in my own way without ever really needing to change myself. Holding true to core beliefs etc.
There's lots more but I credit that with a lot of it.
My sister OTOH is a covidian and she attended one school district the whole way through. No changes.
Some “swim against the current” because they had to survive a tough childhood. Some do so, because they had great parents and a great childhood. In both cases, you must believe you are worthwhile. Imho.
This was said at church today: “Any dead fish can swim down a river, but it takes a live and strong fish to go against the current.” We have to be transformed by the Word of God; we can’t just read it & move on. We have been discussing for a couple of years now, that God has set us apart to be a holy & righteous people. One cannot be holy & righteous if they are living in the same sinful life as soon as they leave church on Sundays. We have a home church that God had us start in January 2020. We have learned more in two years than we did all those years in public church. I recommend studying The Tabernacle, Rose Publishing has a pamphlet. We took 22 weeks to go through it. We all studied the same subject one week & then came together on Sunday & gave an explanation of what we each learned on that subject. We need more people to rise up & really be sold out to be set apart.
I think it's natural to question because we're in such a f'd up situation, but yes, I've aways had my own ideas on things. and am often in trouble for thinking differently.
this quote also gives me hope, let's me know were on the right track when we 'think' on our own. we're not supposed to be robots.
"I have a slight contrarian impulse I can't seem to shake"
When you have enough self-worth, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of you. You can easily shrug off their slings and arrows because their opinions do not matter. This is the true test of character.
I think the current situation in the west is like swimming in the ocean. There are times when we need to be able to rest and hold on to something that is buoyant (hope), for me that is God's promises. Other times the situation is critical like being carried on a large wave that is about to crash into rocks. At those times we don't swim against the wave we swim perpendicular to the shore on top of the wave. Successfully living in this world but not being of this world doesn't mean being constantly stressed and looking for a fight, it means living according to God's word and following his peace in difficult situations. It's hard, it takes facing our own hubris, it takes listening to the Holy Spirit about when and what to say at which times. These trying times are like a fire, refining the true gold in true followers of Christ. It is an attitude that the people who live in darkness cannot even comprehend, but it is a light on a hill that should not be hidden because it draws men to God.
The first lesson on politics I got was in 2nd grade. I was told by my teacher that our country was governed from a certain city where people got together to discuss the right way forward ....
I was like: yeah ..... I dunno why, but that sounds stupid. I mean, me and my friend would often argue about how to play games .... and it often came to the point where we decided to go outside and make a dog poo sate and throw it at each other ....
But I guess, the more gullible ... will surely belief such nonsense. If anything, governments are the major if not the actual cause of death. From a necessary evil being small and contained to a metastasizing cancer and moral decay.

Integrity and strength of character and faith in God.
Self-confidence, Beliefe in ones one beliefs
Knowing that what you know is more useful than what others know.
Knowing: "Those who follow the crowd are likely to get no further from it, but those who forge their own paths are likely to find themselves in places the crowd has never been."
Then deciding to not follow the crowd.

Ability to discriminate bullshit ...a loud inner voice ..an inability to be hypnotised

Once I felt the coldness (age 4), I refused to participate.

Believe me when I say this, if I knew I would surely open all their eyes as soon as possible.
Fear of being laughed at and ridiculed.

It is quite out there in the open.
All they know is the TV so all their trusted friends are on it and God isn’t one of them.
I was a shy little kid and never had many friends so I never learned to fit in.
