Yes, I agree with that. For me, I sort of thought of the "little too far" as sort of bonus material that I can choose to engage in, or not. About 6 months ago I was feeling the way you described and so I reevaluated whether or not I wanted to continue to visit here. One thing that I did that has helped me is to focus on 1) the things I am curious about, and keep it at the 40K foot range; and 2) come here to see if there are updates about specific things, such as RvW. I have come to trust this community as being very timely in its sharing of information.
With those two guidelines for myself, I have stayed in my sweet spot, contributed here and there where I could, and found my balance. It helped tremendously, and I no longer am as affected by some of the mightier-than-thou users here. Ultimately, I have turned this board into an effective tool for myself, as well as a place I can connect with good people. And... there are way more good people on this board than not, in my opinion.
