True, which is why families get together and firm pods, co-ops and other creative formats. Extended families unite and retired members pitch in. One salary can go a long way, especially if you can move to a better situation before mortgages go nuts. Get rid of cable and mobile data plans, learn to cook. Find home-based businesses, have chickens and a food garden.
Time? Well, first grade only requires about an hour of book learning a day. Add 15-20 min/ day per grade after that. Group field trips, park days, sports groups can get hectic but they're really fun. By the way, you will probably find out you didn't learn as much as you thought in school and that you're picking up more information than your kids sometimes. It's amazing and priceless.
That's all good for those that have that. Many people don't. Many people who live in suburban areas don't have access to that and are allowed to keep chickens (like you'd want to in a small plot of land. They stink like fuck). I know how to cook, I know how to live off the land. But I think you're missing my point. For some people, that isn't an option either by law/legislation or their financial situations. It's easy enough to slap your hands and say "problem solved". But it isn't straight forward. Most people where I live in the suburban areas aren't allowed chickens or any pet (like it would stop them). However, it doesn't stop some folk. Some live in very violent conditions where their plants and livestock would just get nicked by some dodgy person that should be locked up. Idk about the US and how easy that would be. But it ain't easy here
Home school your kids. Problem solved.
That isn't easy for parents who work full time and can't afford to
