ROE v WADE: OVERTURNED-- praise God in heaven!
💥 B O O O O O M 💥
Just hit the newswires! Edit: See Project Ultrasound or Save the Storks for organizations that assist women with crisis pregnancies.
This is one thing I wish people would emphasize more, which is to look at this like a game. Think of all of the things we ought to be paying attention to right now: the Ukraine scam, the fact private interests and government are buying up crops and farmland, the engineered energy crisis, the great reset, etc. etc. The list goes on.
By 'passing the ball to the states', what the SC has done here is to re-open a major social issue that is now going to be a new battle in every state. What an excellent way to shift attention onto this issue coming into mid-terms, and in the center of a disaster for the democratic party (namely, the Biden admin).
They pick our battles for us, at least, by giving the cameras and news programs something to focus on. What a controversy! Back to the states! Now each state will be embroiled in its own battle.
I had a friend tell me that this SC decision was evidence that God was moving in the world. I know other people who will think this was a conservative 'win'. I don't want to be a wet blanket. I really don't. I think we should celebrate whatever good is a consequence of this, but at the same time, if you think the SC just suddenly (almost 50 years later) decided to overturn Roe v. Wade for any reason other than to muddy the political waters, I think you're being naive.
I think it is nonsense that grifters will portray as some inexplicable conservative flourish from inside of the belly of the beast, and it will fuel really damaging ideas like Q-anon bullshit (i.e. #ourguys still have a pulse within the system!).
The manipulators of the world use our moral intuitions/impulses against us. Abortion is morally controversial. If you are trying to hide your activities from the world, what better way than to start a 50-state battle over a social hot topic? The system we live in is like the moral 'Price is Right'. What game have we got for our winner today, Bob? PLINKO. ABORTION RIGHTS! (whole crowd cheers)
I don't understand why our people want a theocracy so bad. This is the single biggest cause of division and a major distraction for conservatives.
When even religion itself can't agree on the concept of ensoulment and conception, expecting base level humans to have the exact same opinion is asinine.
From a pragmatic point of view, can the system handle it? Childtax credit is basically universal basic income. Snap, WIC, CHIP, are all pretty much government rationing and distribution of commodities. It's pretty much socialism without the name...but muh babiez ermagherd the Laaaards blessing.
I'm not a fundamentalist Christian (though I am a Christian) and definitely not a natalist. I don't see the good in this. Kids already grow up in broken, dysfunctional families. 1 to 3 million extra unwanted children per year, just to appease social piety?
