Returning the abortion issue to the States does not eliminate abortions. The ruling however removes the protected immunity the abortion industry enjoyed regarding federal funding. Now all of this is a State matter and shatters the monopoly that was funding it.
Does this mean Planned Parenthood loses its federal funding? Yes and no. It means the State has the absolute right to shut down abortion if their law dictates it.
The implications of this ruling are far reaching in that now in each State's political parties are forced to have a State-wide debate on the issue of abortion. If you think this was the case before the ruling, you are correct. However, Roe v. Wade made the issue far more daunting when the full weight of the federal government was involved. Each time a State enacted legislation that appeared to be contrary to Roe v. Wade, it was overruled by the federal courts. With this ruling the federal government and the courts has been removed.
It immediately does in Wisconsin, not sure about other existing state's laws.
Its illegal in oklahoma,we passed a law ahead of this.
I should have stated it does not eliminate 'legal' abortions. I can also add that the graphic procedure for aborting babies can now be more readily advanced. With Roe v. Wade in effect, there was a very chilling censorship to showing the truth in this matter. Federal judges would impose censorship to protect Roe v. Wade.
Why does no one see what this really means? It's not self respecting conservatives kIlling their own children. How does this change the population in 18 years? Millions upon millions...
I think this will make all the crazy libs move to crazy lib states like CA, IL, and NY. This could create interesting Electoral college maps.
