I believe ceremonial law for the Israelites had specific purposes connected with God's covenant for His chosen people. Obviously it had purpose and meaning. I don't claim to understand all of God's purposes but I know we are no longer bound by the cermonial law. At this point it is just a matter of choice and in all cases the choice is made by the parents and the child grows up accepting the choice. I think we are each accountable for our decisions and there is no right or wrong in this instance...just the choice to do it or not to do it FOR WHATEVER REASONS.
