This is from a Hadith rather than the Qur'an so not exactly something he would read but still true and accepted by Muslims.
For those who don't know, the Hadith are almost all first/second hand sources of what Mohammed did, how he clarified the Qur'an, and what his followers did after he died. Bukhari is a highly respected (by most Muslims) and accurate collection of some of these Hadith.
