Diets don't work.... drink a lot of water before eating, eat your veggies first and enough til you tire of them. Cap off the meal with whatever else you want. Veggies should be as many colors as possible and 2/3rd of what you eat. Fruit of different colors as well, but not too much because of sugars. Lastly eat until not hungry, do not eat until full.
Way back, Richard Simmons taught to pay attention when you're eating to when you put down your fork. Most people will eat a good portion and then get a natural pause in their eating and that's when you should probably stop because you've actually had enough.
