If you aren't familiar...basically they're discussing the morality of being a contractor on the Death Star. This guy overhears and says something basically like "I had a chance to do some work on a mobsters house. Turned it down, a roofer listens to his heart not his wallet"
The issue is simple. Capitalism only works if the people participating have some small amount of morals. Naked immoral unfettered capitalism will eventually eat itself just like communism/socialism and devolve into oligarchs or a dictatorship.
I'm an atheist. I believe its possible to get morals from other places but Christianity along with a few other religions are for the most part a good sources of a moral code. It has to come from somewhere and have a solid foundation or you get what we have now. People that are lost in a void of depravity.
One of my biggest complaints about the current state of atheism in the USA and EU is that they strip people of a moral code on purpose but then don't replace it at all. Instead they make the state the arbiter of what's right. Well the state is controlled by what boils down to oligarch bureaucrats. That's the whole point though... to give them the power by taking it away from the We The People and God. See Pelosi... AOC... etc. They go to a podium every week and tell their NPCs what is right and what is wrong. It often changes radically. And the NPCs simply accept their new moral code programming. See how that works.
Reminds me of the Star Wars argument in Clerks.
