I don't think it was the Patriots. We've seen this play out before with Juicy Smollett, and have come to expect this sort of thing. Perhaps it was the J6 committee that was surprised that their super secret star witness was not what they expected.
Yesterday's ridiculous story was so ludicrous that most Americans could see right through it. Perhaps this story was intended to chip away at the remaining folks who still believe in the J6 narrative.
