My theory:

I can tell you from experience that in a position of holding a confidence, one may be tested. Most likely, some agent told her a great secret (gossip) and she has held the confidence for a long time. Maybe they suspected her of not measuring up to the position she would hold. Therefore, a test.

In a position of keeping confidences, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT, that you tell no one, not your mom, your wife, a friend.............no matter how outrageous; as long as it is not illegal. The rule of thumb is to always hold that confidence. She failed.

There are only two other explanations:

1. She is lying for monetary gain or due to blackmail
2. She was placed there to gain inside information by someone who wants to know.
