The fake shit - until they started the latest inflation and reducing the traditional food supply - was more expensive than the real stuff.
They are trying like hell to reverse that though.
That's just economy of scale when it first came out. I also speculate that when it started there was an element of businesses marking it up to sell it as a "premium" product. The Porsche model.
The fake shit has significantly more scalability than real meat. Even without interference, it absolutely can be made significantly cheaper than real meat.
You mean just like Ethanol in gasoline has cut prices?

Ethanol did cut gas prices in the sense that gasoline with ethanol is cheaper than gasoline without ethanol.
The whole market going up is another topic.
Like, yea, food costs are going to continue going up across the board, and eventually the fake meat will be more expensive than the real meat is now, but the real meat will be even more expensive.
