A trip code is generated and applied to a post, the password forms a part of it.
If someone managed to funge the salt so that 'their' password generated the same tripcode (i.e. so they could post as Q with a 'valid' tripcode) then that does not mean they have the actual password that Q used to post with so could not access the board admin features as Q.
It's possible that someone cracked the password and so could post as Q (assuming Q's tripcode was whitelisted from salt changes), but as Perky (I love that nickname) has pointed out, Q would have had to have used the same password for the board admin as their posts in order for them to be able to both post as Q and to delete a post (which is an admin feature).
Since we all believe Q to be heavily involved in the intelligence community, I very much doubt they would use the same password for both.
I follow the logic, very nice. However, I'm failing to see the conclusion.
Being that anyone having posted and deleted would have to have both passwords, Aare you supporting the proposition it is more likely to be authentic, or just providing logical conclusions?
A fair observation, I've made a few posts and I don't always put my conclusion as I forget :)
I'm of the opinion that it is likely a genuine Q-drop, but I'm keeping my powder dry until I see some kind of zero delta to prove that the trip code has not been compromised.
Until then, proceed with caution, but proceed :)
PS - I should have said a zero delta based on a drop with the trip-code, not an unsubstantiated one.

I hope that makes sense.
