They won't lose their audience specifically because of it being gay either, they'll lose their audience by constantly destroying existing characters and hero identities by making new versions of them or a different person and throwing it at the wall hoping it sticks.

They can't seem to make a new super hero without Stan Lee's influence and haven't been able to for many years after he became so disconnected from the entire franchise of Marvel that he was reduced to amusing cameos.

And even when a version is relatively well received and made into their own character with distinct powers (Miles Morales) they do a bad job portraying them and just go in on the next wokefolio page.
