I was a tomboy all my younger years. Did everything with my brother. I did play with Barbies and he played with me ONLY if I would be the Indian when we played cowboys and Indians. So no I was NOT trans nor was I gay. I was a normally developing female who liked the great outdoors.
I had an only daughter who could beat all the boys in sports until HS. She was a tomboy also. My hubby asked if I thought she was gonna be gay. I said No Way. She will take an interest in boys when she was ready. At 16 she was ready and began dating. She is currently a swim coach but dates only men.
My wife was a self-confessed "tomboy" when she was a preteen.
I can testify that she got over it.
Similar for me. Maybe because I had an older brother and what he was doing always looked far more interesting (and dangerous), than what was pushed on girls. We both got Daisy Air Rifles one Christmas as well as fishing poles and cap guns with holsters. I also had dolls and stuffed animals. My parents were never concerned that I'd rather spend time in the woods, play softball and climb trees, than play with my pretend oven and Ironing set. Definitely female and always knew it.
