I was a big tomboy growing up. Had 2 older brothers and hung out with them and their friends ( we were all 2 years apart, but I still don't know why they let me hang out with them). We were just poor enough that I got their boy hand-me-down clothes. My grandmother would make me handmade dresses but I hated them lol.
Always wanted to do what the boys got to do - football, racecar driver, soldier (didn't actually do any of that, tho), but I never wanted to BE a boy. I just wanted to be better than my brothers at everything, be a badass girl. But I really looked up to them, wanted to walk in their shoes and earn their respect and friendship. We're all still besties all these years later.
Same here. My little sister and I were just talking about this yesterday. I wanted to hang out with my older brother and his friends so I learned how to play running bases, wore Sears Toughskin Jeans, the whole 9 yards.
