In her memoir, Alison Arngrim, the actress who played Nellie on "Little House on the Prairie," describes how she became friends with a Swedish woman who'd had a sex change. When her parents explained about it, her first response was, "You mean I can be a boy when I grow up if I want?" because she was a tomboy. Luckily, her parents didn't take this too seriously.
