My dad was working class - skilled labor, lucky to have a sport coat for special occasions. I had to learn the hard way, so not too familiar with the Mod movement, or maybe I didn't know what it was.
But I always pay attention to the suits the talk show hosts are wearing, if I happen to catch a little of a show. Some guys wear very nice suits, you can tell they fit like a second skin.
I wonder if they are still there anon? I've been on the slab quite a few times, so thank you for your tireless work. You guy's work as a great team, unless you're a dentist then you are just evil ;)
The working class youth of the late 1950's and early 1960's is where it (The Modernists or Mod) came from. The kids were fed up in war time hand me downs and wanted something sharp, the Italian cut suits and styles were it. They also took elements from the USA, with sports jackets and the Ivy league look.
And once they had the clothes, the music originally was jazz, and later Tamala Motown and home grown stuff like the Small Faces, then came the transport! The Lambretta's from Italy and Vespas, with coffee shops being their hangouts.
Mod is all about the detail, and standing out from the others (tickets) in the crowd.
Speaking of, today a I took a coworker to the range to introduce him to a sport he's never experienced. Since he's likely to stay in the US and make this place his home, we need to integrate him into the culture, at least a bit. :-)

I live in surgical scrubs, and then in Xtratuffs and Patagonia. Threw all my pantyhose and high heels out along the ALCAN 26 years ago ;-)

Sorry I digress.
I've been enjoying the digression....

Excellent, no better place to spend a few hours than at the range.
