If the police can bring their guns, then the citizens should bring their own guns, too. Remember, there is a lot more civilians than there is politicians and police and military. He who has the most firepower controls the levers of government.
That said, the disparity between dutch government and the populace is deteriorating at a fast pace. Somebody will do something stupid and light the fuse. Probably some snorting Romeo or something.
