Sorry, I am not entirely sure. Boris is an opportunist. He does what is best for Boris. He saw an opportunity to align himself with Brexit so if the people approved it in the referendum he would be in prime position to be the new PM.
He did see us through Brexit then promised in the previous election to complete the job. He got votes from all parties for that but he never followed through. Then he got himself involved in "partygate" in which there were many gatherings in No 10 during lockdown which contravened the rules he was giving us. He tried to lie his way out of it.
Now it looks as if he promoted someone known to have assaulted people in a sexual manner. He is now trying to distance himself from that. He survived one vote of no confidence and under Conservative Party rules that cannot be tried again for some time. However, the rule making committee is changing the rules, today I think, to make it a possibility.
Basically, he has been such a lying hypocrite that the Party feels that they do not want him in office any longer as it reflects on them.
Sadly, that also plays into the hands of the Remainers (or rejoiners) because Boris's replacement could well be anti-Brexit. Note that the Labour Party is now trying to set itself up as the Brexit party which is a change from their previous actions on the topic.
Boris got himself into an excellent position then shot himself in all possible feet at every opportunity. If he had just stuck to doing the best for the UK things would have worked out better but he began to think that he was untouchable and did whatever was expedient for Boris. I believe he listens too much to his new wife, as well. I wonder if his remark about Putin's toxic masculinity started with her?
Can anyone TLDR me on why suddenly everyone is bailing on Boris? What's the MSM reason... and whats the real reason? :D
