World War 1 wiped out a lot of them, but not one I know of has stood up for its subjects against COVID mandates.

At the root of this problem is the mentality of the kind of people who hold o to and grow power over others through generation. Power hungry sociopaths. Expecting monarchies to have a different reaction to covid is like looking at the roots and wondering why they don't rebel against the tree.

The crown owns the Bank of England. The BOE owns 1/5th of the land mass on the planet. The Vatican bank owns another 1/5th.

The Corporation of the City of London owns the BoE, the monarchy doesn't own very much compared to that.
The queens money is paid to her by the Crown Estate who own her lands, she gets 2% of the profits from rental on these lands and pays tax on this. The money the Crown estate gets is held by the Exchequer, theoretically its public money.
The Corporation of the City has a great voice in parliament, the Remembrancer Paul Doble who sits at the left of the Speaker of the House and vetos anything that would harm the profits of the City.

Yes, I have noticed. I go to dailymail.co.uk just for entertainment purposes and the articles on royals have really picked up - dedicate a new eye health center, attend a business opening, blah, blah, blah and they always comment on what they are wearing. It truly is nauseating.

I have no basic problem with industrialists and bankers per se, not until they form monopolies and then want to take over the world, and the political structures don't stop them, and they are not held accountable for the bad loans they make, and free markets are throttled to let them run amuck (so they are no longer free markets).
But you're right. With monarchies come assholes by bloodlines, which usually has money tied to them, with a capitalist system you get assholes by how wealthy they've gotten.
