Last night, 45 spoke at length about the need for the death penalty. He discussed the lack of crime in certain countries as a result of their swift and quick trials [Justice is served quickly, which works as a deterrent against crime].
DJT has been pushing for “fast trial, death penalty” for years (see tweet from 2012), and he reiterated it last night.
Remember when he legalized firing squads right before he left office? I bet certain criminals didn’t sleep well last night…

And what happens when they find out a year later the evidence was corrupted and the person was actually innocent.
I get the drive for capital punishment, especially for those in government who took an oath, but until we can be 100% certain we never put to death an innocent person, I find it hard to support the death penalty.
