Your thread with him was enlightening and entertaining, so at least it wasn't a waste of time.
I've seen food banks..it's really scary how poorly people choose what they take home. All the name brand crap goes first. My uncle was eligible for a food bank for a while and he'd get good meat and organic labeled products because no one wanted them.
It's with restaurants too..an unassuming local Italian restaurant that has real food gets horrible reviews saying "it's frozen food, go to Olive Garden instead' There's also the people who prefer Panda and Chipotle to the mom and pop Chinese places and actual taquerias
It's almost like people need to take responsibility for their own actions and lifestyles. I have bad teeth, knowing this, I used to drink lots of pepsi/mt dew and had cavities. I blamed my mom (she blamed herself when I was a kid, so it was an easy transition), my dentist always blamed me. After a while, I took that to heart, and I sought to fix that problem on my own. Is it my mother's genes that gave me "soft" teeth? Yes. Is it her fault I drank crap and got cavities (I mean, she did buy me mt dew as a kid... jk.)? No, I chose to drink that crap, I got myself my own cavities. I'm doing much better dentally in the last couple years than ever before.
