Honestly they'd just come in a different way, rather than throwing money at a problem why not remove the incentive that is causing people to flock here?
I agree 100% with this. And a few years ago, DHS reported that the majority of illegal immigrants here either came here legally on work/student/travel visas and then just didn't leave when their visas expired, or they were smuggled in via vehicles that went through legal border checkpoints. According to that report, only a small percentage of illegal immigrants come here via a method that a southern border wall would stop. I'll try to find the link to the DHS report when I get home and on my desktop. I don't have the link saved on my phone.
But what sense does it make to spend all that money on a wall to keep out people from south of the border and then turn around and spend even more tax payer money on getting special work visas to get those same people to come here to work as migrant farm labor and such just for them to not go home when their visas expire and thus become the illegal immigrants the wall was supposed to prevent? And how was that for a run on sentence? 😁
But really, we need to put more thought into this problem because it's much more complicated than stopping some people walking here through the desert.
