I've taken to correcting any mention of the "Russian Revolution" as "It wasn't a revolution, it was a coup" (I suppose you could say the same also about the Chinese revolution)

What kind of revolution slaughters the common folk after the change in leadership? No those were takeovers, coups.

The American Revolution qualifies, and maybe the English Glorious revolution, although that was almost literally a coup, but no slaughtering of common folk, they just got new leadership more closely aligned to the common folk (a Protestant Monarch rather than the anomalous Catholic James II)
