I have always imagined that nobody would care about gold or silver if it went down and would go to more of a trade/service system. No coin. Wouldn't it be worthless essentially?
Maybe, maybe not. I'd rather have a little just in case.
Could become more of a bartering type system but you'll have those that wish to trade for tangible goods, and one thing throughout history, precious metals have proven to be tangible.
I agree.. It honestly amazes me that humanity ever turned to a piece of metal as a way of showing power and wealth. It's meaningless essentially. In the fallout games they use bottlecaps 😆
Well, if his-story is as it's purported to be, which I don't believe it is, then precious metals would have had value due to rarity in that it has to be mined and refined.
Although if you look at ancient Egypt, they had a plethora of gold and with no known source. Lots of speculation in a quick source including the Nile. But if it were a common resource pulled from the river, I would think this would keep it from being very valuable except in external trading.
Or maybe it's all just been to show off, Look at all my shiny crap! just to come off as "elite". Lol who knows, I'm just waiting for it to shoot up and hoping I never have to try and trade any of it in the former US wastelands!
If shit actually hit the fan people would smash and grab everything immediately. Everything destroyed in panic. Probably eventually shiny things would be valuable again. Taking advantage now is def a good idea. You just have to be able to feel when to let it go and get your money. Hopefully in 2024
