I wouldn't read much into the conversion of knots into MPH as this will equate to groundspeed. The speed will be indicated air speed (pressure altitude) which is much different at these higher altitudes where the air is less dense than on the ground. To work out True Airspeed you need to know the pressure and temperature at the time.
