Adults can and should straighten out their differences after separation/divorce if only for their children. When I began dating the man who is my present husband, T. , I told him that I had a good relationship with my ex for our son's sake and that if he wasn't comfortable with that, I couldn't date him. He was fine with that. They developed a friendship and when my ex died, my husband was asked by the family to be a pall bearer. He said yes.
It drives me crazy when parents divorce and act like assholes to each other because the children suffer.
Wow, being asked to be a pall bearer is big. At my dads funeral, the pall bearers were me, my big brother, and 4 of my uncles.
Yes, it was big. I was so happy that for our son, E's sake, they were able to get along. My ex died in Dec. 1985. That next Father's Day, E asked my husband to adopt him. They've always had a great relationship.
My ex absolutely would not act like a decent person with our divorce. 5 sticking years with his hatred. I'm hoping he rots in hell
