Here’s what we need to secure a new America.
1: Term limits.
2: Congressional salaries paid and set by the State they represent
3: Abolition of all federal taxes on domedtic sources, except corporate. States tax their citizens as they see fit, Federal government recieved a fixed percent of all States tax revenue.
These three things would ensure that the federal body is entirely reliant on the states and people for power and resources, and unable to use taxation as a weapon.
Thoughts?
Use taxes are not theft, e.g. a toll road. Roads do not build themselves for free. If its government it's called a "tax," if its a person it's called "usage fee."
An argument can be made for sales taxes as well.
I would call it paying for a service which is provided by an entrepreneur, Has nothing to do with Taxes.
That was my point. Call it whatever you want. The government calls it a tax. A person calls it a usage fee. It is identical no matter what you call it. A rose by any other name costs the same five bucks.
Which really brings up the case for sales tax. We have a gas tax to pay for road infrastructure and maintenance. I have no problem with that tax. It's totally optional, and commensurate with usage of the road.
If our gas taxes really went there, and there wasn't all the thievery that sucks it out of its intended use, and governors that steal even more for that purpose out of "income tax" etc., I have no problem with sales taxes of this nature. It seems "fair" and is in no way theft, since it is totally optional and, at least in theory, correctly applied to usage.
My point is, not all taxes are thievery. I suggest any tax that is truly optional, and not just "optional, but you don't really have a choice" is not thievery.
Ok, but I would much rather give my "usage fee" to support my neighbors, who in return might support my efforts, so that we all rise together. Ratherr than being forced by government leaches to pay for all of their graft.
Anyone who has the resources to build something like the Golden Gate Bridge or a toll road is not your neighbor. People with resources like that are the reason we are where we are.
