My setting is always on dark mode and I never have to re-enable it - just stays like that. I have tried several browsers now that do not remember my setting for this site and hard agree that it is very annoying. Have been using Yandex for a while now and it’s been my favorite so far.
On voat I used to use the dark mode and I really liked it. I have my light on my phone as low as it can go and I just ordered some blue light glasses even though I turned on the eye comfort shield on my phone. My eyes have gotten worse from reading on the phone so much so I try to just listen when I can or watch videos on TV (usually YouTube). If there are very long articles I read them on my laptop. I would welcome a readily accessible dark background or nightmode.
Dark theme is always on here. Not sure if I'm right, but I think it's better for battery consumption without the background lighting up the neighborhood

Doesn't your device have Nightshift or any mode for after dark? My guess is the team here is already busy.

I believe the Opera and Opera GX browsers have a function to force all web pages into their dark mode if there's one avaliable
