That would be the smallpox vaccine. A scab would form over the injection site and later fall off, leaving a big round scar.
They stopped giving that vaccine in the mid-70s because smallpox has been eliminated. It only exists in bio-labs now.
Military still gets it. I got it in boot camp and a booster when I deployed to Kuwait.
You're right. I forgot about military use. I think they were giving most military the smallpox vax well into the 90s. After that, it's given to some select forces. And the scientists who work in the labs where it's kept are vaccinated. And some immigrants were given the vaccines for a long time into the 90s, I think.
The concern is that other countries will use it in biowarfare. I remember when wr had the anthrax scare years ago, TPTB were tossing around the idea of making the anthrax vaccine AND the smallpox vaccine available to the mass public again, in the case of biowarfare.
They must have stopped mid '60's. Like I said, I was born in '67 and did not recieve that vax. Unless my parents went rogue! Lol! Mom hated taking us for shots so thats possible too!
