Kilgallen was not close friends with JFK. She met him at the Oval Office and she was impressed with how kind and helpful he was to her young son. The good impression he made upon her in their short acquaintance made her all the more dedicated to solving his murder. She got too close to the truth and she was silenced, no doubt.
