(One pleasing exception I've discovered lately as I start doing bicycle maintenance myself is Park Tool, they are mostly made here as far as I can discern. E.g. I got their cable cutter which is about $45 and it's nice to feel the quality vs <$20 Chinesium.)

The latter could in fact happen if Xi is in fact part of the Plan.... Once costs are equalized mfg could be spread back out like it should be.

I've thought about this too. Make a good toaster that simply toasts well instead of having powered up/down but still toasts like shit for example
