There was no sunscreen until I was an adult and I'm an ultra pale redhead (before white) who burned in minutes in the sun. I avoided the sun as much as possible and now have all kinds of sun damage issues and one spot that was pre-cancerous that was removed by the dermatologist.

And, yeah, at this time we used to see plenty of fat and even hugely obese people. That includes little kids. My brother, who died young of a stroke, was one of them.

Maybe at least some of this obesity epidemic is propaganda to get you to avoid food. I think it's a bit fishy that the latest diet fad is fasting. Not against fasting, just questioning the timing.
