Was watching the never ending story with my two youngest and had a sit-up in my chair moment. The name that Bastian has for the childlike empress in the end is moon child. I was like, “WTF!” Rewound it and listened again with subtitles and there it was. Moon child. My littles looked at me and said, “What dad?” I hollered for my two oldest sons to come down and see. Their jaws hit the floor because I had watched this movie with them about ten years earlier. Back then I wasn’t awake yet and have since awakened my oldest boys and the wifey. Was kind of a cool moment for me and the older two because it was like,”Look, it’s been there in our faces this whole time! Even when I was a kid!” We like pointing out different symbolism to each other whether it be on tv or ads or whatever. Oh and my younger two were still bouncing for info and I just told them it was for when they’re older. Heavy groans but I told them that moon is a silly name.
