You are talking about John Coleman, who passed away in 2018. I'm not aware of any claims of "...shutting down weather monitoring stations." What has been going on for at least a decade, is "climatologists" cherry-picking data and only selecting those data from urban centers and/or airports, where there is obvious heat gain. This skews data upwards, obviously.

Wow this comment got my head reeling. Just couple minutes ago I was talking to someone else about a John Coleman, who exposed the committee of 300, and for a minute I thought that guy also ran the weather station! Turns out two different John Colemans!
