I didn't' come to this by way of believing the FE'ers. I came to it after a few years of trying to find a rock solid scientific proof of the globe so I could shut up a friend of mine who kept bringing it up. Much to my surprise, I couldn't find one and had to eventually eat some humble pie. I was pretty embarrassed to as to how closed my mind was on the topic. I see now that I should have listened more carefully instead of dismissing him out of hand.

We've basically proven that what you think "can only work on a globe" can also work on a plane. And much of this has to do with human perception and perspective. We've seen these arguments for years and have demonstrated how star observation works on a plane.

Your position is much like the alleged Eratosthenes (we believe he's a made up person) experiment with the sticks and shadows, made famous by Carl Sagan. The problem with it is that there are several built-in assumptions and theories that make it seem accurate (like the sun being 93 million miles away for example). When you eliminate those, the experiment works perfectly well on a plane using different assumptions (like the sun being roughly 3300 miles away - which is what captains sailing the high sees used when triangulating their sextants).

Dave Weiss has been offering 3 Bitcoin for one single scientific proof of the globe for over 3 years now. That's like $80K today (was once nearly $200K). Not chump change to say the least. You'd think some NASA hotshot or university astrophysicist BMOC would have knocked this out by now. But for some strange reason, non have.

If you really think you've got a scientific proof, you should engage with Dave and take his 2-week challenge and then present your proof. If you're right and it's irrefutable, you'll get yourself 3 bitcoin, as well as putting a HUGE DENT in the FE movement at large as Dave is the number one proponent today. And I'll happily admit I was wrong and change my mind as well. That's a triple win if you're up to the task at hand.
