H.R.6552, the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2022 just went up for vote in Congress on Tuesday. It passed with all Democrats and all but 20 Republicans voting yae. Among the 20 who voted nay were Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz.
This doesn't make sense to me. If the bill does what the name suggests then why would they vote against it? Why would every democrat vote for it? There has to be something hidden here I am missing.
Can you guys help me find it?
True. I’m referring more to current day, but yes.
It's been like this since 2001, at least, Starting with the Patriot Act. Then you have the (un) Affordable Care Act. (Obama) (which gets honorable mention in Remy's version of Isn't It Ironic- https://reason.com/video/2014/03/20/remy-isnt-it-ironic/
Build Back Better, The Election Integrity Act and more.
