I lost both about 5 days ago, I can also detect sweet salty sour but can’t really taste or smell. I read somewhere that Flonase helps get it back quicker. Also had the crazy dry mouth. Just taking zinc and d3. Worst part is I live to cook so I made ground beef with onion garlic and roasted red pepper over pasta. Bacon cheeseburgers on butter toasted bun. Turkey sandwiches, chocolate chip waffles, fresh ground coffee, can’t taste any of it but I know it’s sooo good. I can’t believe how I took it for granted. When it comes back I’m going out for a big juicy steak with garlic mashed potato’s and green beans. Man I’m hungry.
That’s cool about Flonase. Would be worth a try for OP.
Just also be aware one of the side effects of Flonase can be changes in sense of smell and/or taste.
I’d continue the ivm for another 3-5 days and see it if your taste comes back.
2 days isn’t really long enough according to most Covid protocols (5days to a week is normal ivm protocol).
100% Dr. Zelenko was a literal God send - may his memory be for a blessing.
Symptoms are obviously going to be unique from person to person. But I know of a Dr. who caught the wild strain of Covid and recovered and 6 months later still had smell/taste issues. She took ivm for a couple days and her smell and taste returned to normal.
For OP, there’s a good chance that the extra time on ivm could wipe out whatever viral left overs are affecting smell. And even if it doesn’t completely work it will not hurt.
I lost taste and smell for only a few days but I had already (for months) been taking zinc, magnesium, D3 and K2.
That’s amazing! No wonder it won the Nobel prize!
I guess my daughter and I were lucky each only losing smell and taste for 2 weeks (we had it a year apart). My daughter (a pill wimp) took the Sambuccol Black Elderberry melting tabs. When I got it I took zinc and quercetin.
I sure hope your taste and smell return soon.
Remember now... Zinc will not work without an ionophore. Ivm works or you can buy quercetin in the vitamin aisle.
THIS
We are all drs now.
ZINC
Took me close to 6 months to return to normal taste/smell.
ZINC will be your best friend. Buy zinc supplements and take them daily, eat lots of beef, and look up anything else that gives you zinc and magnesium.
On top of that, just start eating healthier in general, this should help your taste and smell come back, as well as preventing further illnesses down the road.
edit: I almost forgot that I had also just switched to drinking filtered water about 1 week before my taste and smell returned, so I think whatever garbage is in the water is helping to keep those things suppressed
2 weeks?
8 months..no sense of taste. I am also unvaxxed, caught it from someone with the vax. My sense of smell is coming back, and I can detect sweet, salty or sour… but no sense of taste.
This was me for a long time. I think that drinking filtered water + ZINC is what helped it return.
Move to England. Most of the food is bland anyway.
zinc?

Eat dandelions.
Just throwing this out, marijuana helps both taste and appetite for people without covid loss of taste, it could work.
Time is how I got mine back. Took about 2 weeks after symptoms went away for it to return.
Atomic fireballs, burn those taste buds right off and grow a new set, takes about a month...
